Metals

Iselect Expressions focuses on Stainless Steel for its great quality, however we do have several different Jewelry options so I wanted to share the different type of metals that go into Jewelry making and the details of those metals. Each Jewelry listing will have the details of what the Jewelry is made of in the description.
• White Gold
White gold is pure when it’s 21K and when it’s 14K. It has 58%-75% gold and 25%-42% other metals like nickel, copper, and cobalt or Zinc.
• Platinum
Platinum is one of the rarest metals. Platinum is dense yet very unreactive. This is why you won’t have it tarnish or corrode when exposed to different weather conditions.
• Sterling Silver
This metal contains 92.5% silver, and usually 7.5% copper to make it hard and manageable. It maintains the perfect shine and features to make it look perfect. It’s also hypoallergenic, sterling Silver is 92.5% pure silver (925/1000) and bears the stamp 925 or 0.925.
• Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is one of the common metals used to make jewelry, they are corrosion resistant. It can be an alloy of iron, carbon or chromium.
• Titanium
Titanium is lighter than most other types of metals, but it’s also one of the most durable options you could ever have and won’t tarnish. It’s inert and will never react to your body chemistry.
• Pewter
Pewter is an excellent metal that will not tarnish. Pewter is a malleable metal alloy, traditionally 85 -95% Tin, with the remainder consisting of Copper, Antimony and Bismuth. Copper and Antimony act as hardeners.
• Zinc
Zinc alloy is one of the most common metals that’s used to make jewelry. People like it because of its versatility and its affordability. Jewelers use the casting alloy, which means you can use silver, bronze, and brass. They may also use aluminum, magnesium, and copper to make zinc alloy. It will maintain strength and stability.
• Alloy
An alloy is an admixture of metals, or a metal combined with one or more other elements. For example, combining the metallic elements gold and copper produces red gold, gold and silver becomes white gold, silver combined with copper produces sterling silver, iron and carbon you have steel.
• Brass
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. The brass metal is durable and very strong.
• Copper
Copper is often mixed with alloys bronze and brass. Because of its durability, copper is an excellent metal used for jewelry making.
• Rhodium
Rhodium is a member of the platinum group and a non-reactive metal, therefore it reduces the tarnishing. Rhodium metal is hypoallergenic, very lustrous to resist corrosion, and highly durable.
• Rose Gold
Rose Gold along with pink and red gold, is made with an alloy of yellow gold copper and sometimes silver is added. The higher the copper content, the stronger the reddish hue will appear.
• 14K Gold
14k gold is 58.3% gold and because it contains a higher percentage of alloyed metals it provides more durability and resistance to wear and tear.
• 18K Gold
18k gold is about 75% pure gold, which makes it less durable than 14k gold because it contains more pure gold.
• 24K Gold
24K gold is the purest type of gold available. While 24K gold is extremely valuable, it isn't widely used because gold is such a soft metal, 24K gold bends and scratches easily, making it an impractical metal.
